Problem:
GameMaker 6 does not support the supplied GameMaker 7 files.
Cause:
The files supplied are in .GMK format, whereas GameMaker 6 requires the older format of .GM6
Solution:
Amend the installation files by following this procedure:
- Insert the CD-ROM and execute an administrative installation - e.g.
- Click 'Start', then 'Run'
- Enter the following text (replace the TARGETDIR text according to your desired path):
msiexec /a D:\Setup.msi TARGETDIR="Q:\Applications\ICT4L_AT1\Network Install"
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new 'Network Install' installer directory at the TARGETDIR path.
- If you have already configured ICT4Life with a shared user data folder, copy the file from your currently working installation: \ActiveTeach1\ICT 4 Life ActiveTeach 1_ICT 4 Life ActiveTeach 1.xml into the 'ActiveTeach1 folder within 'Network Install' and skip to section 9 - If you do not have this file, continue from section 3.
- At a client workstation, create a folder on the network to contain the user data (e.g. P:\Courses\ICT4LIFE_Users\) - users MUST have read/write/delete priveleges even though they may not have browse permissions - i.e. this may be hidden using AD.
- At a client workstation, locate the 'Network Install' folder and launch the program ActiveTeach1\wrapper.exe and log in as the default Admin user.
- Click the 'Assess' tab.
- Click the 'Administration and Settings button.
- Set the following details:
- shared user data path
- school name
- QuickStart option (allows access without login, but will not save progress)
- new default Admin password.
- Save the changes and quit the application.
- Download this zip file: > here <
(tinyurl: http://tinyurl.com/b88hxg)
- Extract the downloaded zip file to the installation'Network install' directory such that the expanded files are loose alongside the ActiveTeach 1 directory.
- Execute the Replace_GM6.bat to replace the necessary files.
- Uninstall earlier versions of ICT4Life ActiveTeach 1.
- Use the Setup_vGM6.msi to install the amended ActiveTeach.
Note - CC3 users should follow the installation instructions that are included within the zip file.
